Vigirota Radar warns you in time
Each alert is spoken out loud, then beeps follow you to the camera. The speed limit of the road stays on screen, next to your speed.

Vigirota Radar in short
Vigirota Radar is a free driving aid for Android. It reads out the danger zones on your road: fixed speed cameras, red-light cameras, level crossings, average speed checks and areas to watch. The speed limit of the road stays on screen next to your speed.
It includes a full satnav, with or without tolls, a motorbike mode, and works without an account. Alerts continue when the screen is off or music is playing, as long as the app is open. Each alert is said only once, at the right place.
Vigirota detects no speed camera: it compares your GPS position with known locations, the way a satnav announces a motorway exit. That is what makes it legal in France.
Speed cameras, roadworks, accidents and the weather can also be checked on Vigirota Maps (maps.vigirota.fr), a free map with no account.
What changes day to day
Only your road
The camera on the side road along the motorway is not announced to you.
The right carriageway
When the direction of the carriageway is known, the camera on the other side is not announced. When in doubt, Vigirota warns you.
One alert, not ten
The same alert is never repeated at the same place.
With your music
Alerts continue when music is playing or the screen is off, as long as the app is open.
Motorbike mode
Included in the app, at no extra cost.
Report a danger
Accident, roadworks, obstacle: one tap is enough.
Why it is not a radar detector
A detector picks up the waves sent by an enforcement device. These devices are banned in France, and simply owning one is an offence, even for visitors.
Vigirota picks up nothing and sends nothing. It compares your GPS position with a list of known locations and reads them out. It is the same mechanism as a satnav announcing a motorway exit.
French law regulates this kind of driving aid: the publisher must be able to hide alerts where the authorities order it. Vigirota is designed for that, and alerts are never its only function: it also announces dangers, roadworks and the weather.
Vigirota is a driving aid: it does not authorise anything or exempt you from anything. The speed limits shown are indicative; only the signs on the spot count. Holding a phone while driving is illegal in France: set your route while parked, then listen.
